About Manor Farm Barns

Restored from farm buildings dating back to Mid 1800s, Manor Farm Barns offers sympathetically restored yet modern accommodation that embraces its heritage. In No. 2 Pulliblanks  we even have two exceptionally rare original talismans, dating back to mid 1800’s  carved into two of our walls. Talismans are blessing symbols that bestow good harvests and prosperity. You’ll notice the Talisman is part of our company logo as we are proud of our building’s heritage and our connection with them.

Our barns offer the perfect base for relaxing, exploring, and getting back to nature. We offer stunning panoramic views of the Cranborne Chase’s Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, in North Dorset, which covers 380 square miles of countryside and overlaps the boundaries of Wiltshire, Dorset, Hampshire and Somerset.

Our Story

Nigel was brought up on the farm - as a child he enjoyed helping his parents with their dairy herd, lambing, looking after their flock of sheep and undertaking chores on the farm including collecting wood for the farmhouse fire. He went away to University and worked away from the village until he married His Wife Hannah, at this point they purchased the Old post Office in Melbury Abbas, where they had their two daughters.  In 2010 they moved into the farmhouse after renovating their first barn for Nigel’s Mother.  The storm of 2013 devastated the farmstead and it was at this point where Nigel and Hannah decided to undertake the renovation of a lifetime!  The range of farm buildings are listed so thus they have been sensitively restored using traditional methods and materials.

Also no dogs on the soft furnishings and sofas. We also ask you to clear up any dog mess from the garden before you leave. We provide a dog bowl, dog blankets / throw, dog towels on request for your four legged friend.

Our Talismans

A Talisman is an object or symbol which is believed to contain magical properties that bring good luck and prosperity for the possessor.

We have two original talismans carved into the walls of our No. 2  The Pulliblanks barn. We understand they were probably carefully carved into the wall of the building by a general farm worker , when the building was used to store winter animal feed to bestow a blessing of a good harvest / bountiful livestock that year. One of the talismans is of exceptional quality and we have taken great care to protect it during our barn restoration.
